The book of Daniel has fueled a lot of misguided end-times speculation. It is all the more important, then, to be extra careful when approaching this challenging apocalyptic book. Collins is the perhaps the top scholar in the world on apocalyptic literature and the book of Daniel, and his commentary is superb. That being said, I quite like Goldingay‘s WBC volume. Scholars will also find some useful information in the AB volume by Di Lella and Hartman.
There are a number of more popular pastoral commentaries, including Anderson (moderate), Baldwin (conservative), Ferguson (conservative Reformed), Longman (Reformed), Miller (conservative premillenial interpretation), and Towner (moderate).
