Leviticus

While many Christians neglect the book of Leviticus, it is at the very centre of the Pentateuch and is rich in theological reflection on the holiness of God. The Jewish rabbi and scholar, Jacob Milgrom has produced three masterful volumes on Leviticus. I highly recommend these to scholars, teachers, and preachers. Gerstenberger is another critical commentary that is worthwhile purchasing, as is Budd.

Pastors will want to use the commentaries by Balentine, Gorman, Rooker, Sherwood, and Wenham. I think that Wenham’s volume is excellent and provides a solid evangelical perspective. Demarest is a pretty good popular commentary.
