The book of Ruth is one of the Bible’s most enduring and beloved stories; it is also one of the more poignant examples of God’s providential care for his people. There are many excellent guides to this book; I find Hubbard‘s careful analysis exceptional. Bush, Linafelt, Matthews, and Neilsen are also very good. Block‘s work is characteristic of his careful scholarship and is great for pastors and lay people; as are Younger and Roop. Sakenfeld‘s volume is also worth having, as is Hamlin‘s.
