Obadiah

The book of Obadiah, at only 21 verses, is the shortest book in the Hebrew Bible. That hasn’t stopped commentators from unpacking its brief, but challenging declamations against Edom. The recent critical commentary by Raabe is outstanding, while Wolff‘s work is a classic. I also have to make special mention of the volume by Ehud Ben Zvi, my colleague at the University of Alberta. His in-depth historical-critical analysis of the book is a must read for scholars. Noteworthy among more popular commentaries are Allen and Achtemeier.
