Jeremiah

There is an impressive list of critical commentaries published on the book of Jeremiah. Not only do we have McKane‘s masterful ICC volumes, we have the excellent Hermenia commentaries by Holladay, and the recent Anchor volumes by Lundbom. In addition, while it is sad that Craigie did not complete his WBC volumes before his untimely death, the commentaries turned out exceptionally good.

Pastors and teachers are no less served by Brueggemann‘s provocative commentaries, which I consider one of the best on the book (note that his 1998 work is a reprint of the ITC volumes with an updated introduction). In addition, Clements, Fretheim, Huey, Jones, and Thompson are all quite good. Finally, Dearman has written a solid popular commentary, while I quite like Martens.
